    Mystery taig/microproto micromill ethernet controller

    Hi folks,

I recently picked up a few ancient microproto [taig] micromill 2000's at auction for almost nothing. They've had some very custom modifications to them, and have been set up with 5 axis. They seem to be running using the original stepper driver/control box from microproto [now taig] with an extra ethernet board on top of that. I've tried to fin literally any information about this board so that i can try and get it working with mach3 or 4 or some other software. the company that made it is presumably no longer with us, and it seems they left no trace on the internet... anyone have any ideas? i have 5 machines total so salvaging the boards would be very preferable to buying new ones!

The boards are marked with Probot-XL rev 1.1. the modifications to the micromills seem to be under the same name, they're in blue enclosures. Anyone have any bells ringing?! I'll upload some photos as soon as i can...

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    -Ed

Atlasjonk did attach photos (in two messages), but the hamsters that run the wheels that power the CNCZone server think its their break time, so the photos are not viewable at CNCZone. :wazzzup

Until they get back on the job you can view the photos in this thread at IndustryArena: https://en.industryarena.com/forum/showthread.php?t=465974&p=2572045#post2572045

    -------------------- Update:
The photos were available when I posted that message, I looked at some of them. I see at the moment that those photos are not viewable at the moment. Perhaps he is reposting the photos.

Hi all, not sure why the phot's that i put up keep disappearing! Perhaps CNCZone doesn't like the size?

Try this google drive link, it's public acess so should allow everyone to take a look

The photos are available at that Google Drive link, but not visible to me without downloading them as a Zip file, then extracting from the Zip file. So, I am reposting them to make things easier for everyone. There are 9 total images.

    The first 3:

Well, I can't help just yet, but I also just obtained one of these. (like I didn't have enough wee projects!), so will be digging

I suspect (but not yet proven) they might be a closed loop addition, as it has links to position encoders on all 5 axes. I suspect you could just leave it out of circuit and connect direct to the original controller. May also relate to https://www.embotech.com/softwarepro...obot/overview/

I've also picked one of these up, less case though in my case. I was hoping to use the current control but it might be less painful to start from scratch. there does not seem to be much information on the current boards...
