Post Fanuc Controller board blowing fuse

    Hi,
I am trying to fix a friends CNC machine Nakamura Tome TMC-200, I have been able to replace power supply, amplifier etc as it had been sitting for a long time without use.

I am now down to the controller board A16B-2200-066 and replaced it to find out the replacement board will need programming.

So I have looked at the original board and found a component on it has failed, by using a thermal camera.

It had short circuited so was blowing the 5A fuse. Photos attached of offending item is the one with 19 on it, others on the board are marked like the CZ7 one is.

    Thanks in Advance

    Regards
    Mark

Based on the location, I'd say it is a 50v Bypass Capacitor. If you pull the data sheet on the IC next to it, then check the traces to see if they route to the power and ground pins. If it does then that is most likely it. If it is a ceramic cap those fail shorted all the time. You could probably test and run without it.

You can try and find the cap online or stick a 0.1uf cap in there and see how it goes.

Remove it; don't bother replacing it.
