    Grounding VFD

I had to relocate my CNC control panel and this required to re wire my 120VAC VFD model HY020211B. The VFD has 3 terminals R,T,E for the 120VAC input Black, White and Ground wire. For the output to the water cooled spindle the VFD has U,V,W plus the Ground terminals.

Do the grounds of both 120VAC input to the VFD and output to the spindle end at the same place? (that is the 120VAC ground).

    Thanks
    Nicolas

Yes, normally you would set up a star ground point that includes the system Earth conductor.
Both VFD GND ands the VFD cable shield would be connected at this point.
There is also a recommendation by Siemens to carry out equi-potential bonding, this as all metallic parts of the machine be bonded to an earth conductor.
I have posted the Siemens paper here a few times.
