    OKUMA L470 Spindle rpm dropping

So we were having a trouble on shop. When facing, the roughing tool is making a grooving on the part. We have also encountered the same unwanted grooving while using a boring bar on tapered section of a part.

I noticed that the spindle rpm was winding down and up while machining which is very unusual because our programs are already proven before.

Our maintenance said it might be the bearings of the spindles are shot so they may have to replace the whole spindle or just buy another machine.

I am really curious on what happened and what might cause this issue. Anybody ideas?

    check bearings
check the attack angle of cutter against the spindle axis
