    router to spindle upgrade

Seeking advice on how to go about upgrading from a 3.25hp portercable router to a spindle with a little more power, and hopefully less noise. I am running a year 2001 warthog 4x8 that is being controlled by uccnc with a cnc 4 pc breakout board. Advice on spindle brands, vfd and mounts etc... is all appreciated

Pretty straight forward upgrade. This is an example this one is air cooled so rpm is limited from 12000 to 24000 rpm

If you get a water cooled version the rpm range is 6000 to 24000 rpm. Water cooled is quieter than air cooled but both are much quieter than a wood router and both have much more power.

Other items needed, shielded VFD to spindle cable, must be shielded with braided shield to protect from EMI noise. Your CNc controller needs a PWM output and a couple relays to control spindle speed and direction. Sometimes this is a minor cost add on board other times your existing controller has this feature.

Most critical aspect of conversion is programming the VFD to match your spindle. Failure to program it correctly could burn up the new spindle and VFD. Look online lots of tutorials on how to program and many sellers send detailed instructions
