Posting 4x Indexed (G94 ipm) and Continuous (G93 inverse) in the same program.

Hi all, I have some 4th-axis programs where the roughing works best as indexed, but the finishing passes are best cut using a simultaneous drive surface. My machine has some motion control features that are disabled when using G93, so is there a way to post some ops as G93 and others as G94? Many thanks, O

    Hi there

What CAM package are you using to post from?

I know this isn't the exact answer you're looking for... but I would use the g93 post for the toolpaths you want, then 94 post for those toolpaths. Then either run separately or combine files

Hi William, I believe this is ultimately where it will land. I have the 2 posts working well and it is probably not wise to take 2 things that are not broken and overcomplicate the issue. I was just hoping there may be a way in the way of variables or per op since I rarely rerun the same part. Thanks.

I use notepad to edit my processed toolpaths. M9 is at end of program. I use find function for M9. I'll then erase all the ending commands of first program, paste next program.

I've strung together many programs to equal 1.

I don't know your level, but it's helping me understand post processors better and G code better.... just slowly LOL
