Help! Fanuc 18t RS 232 File Read & Write

So I’ve been at this for 2 days and no luck I was able to setup laptop with dnc software.
    Settings are
    Com 3
    Data Bits : 3
    Parity : Even
    Protocol : ASCII
    Baud Rate : 9600
    Stop Bits : 2
    Hand shaking: Xon/Xoff

Shows from pc side it’s transferring file over

On controller side I’m in the program directory
    I’m typing in file name
    O0002.ncc then I click OPRT > READ > EXEC

For sending files out I do the same but
    OPRT > PUNCH > EXEC

All I get is an Alarm with error
    233 Device Busy

Tried attaching photos but files too big I can send via email if anyone wants to see settings on machine.

    Thank you!

...the Data Bit should be 7 and sounds like a Cable problem. There are few different ways to interface using RS232C. How do you have your cable wired or type Cable? Null Modem is what you need I think.

    zeroexa,
It may be that the PMC is in ONLINE mode. Check parameter 24.
If it is anything other than "0" it may indicate that "ONLINE" was turned on at some point.
    Try change to "0".
You may also got to PMC Maint screen and look for "MONIT" softkey. Once pressed go to USE/NOT USE and use L/R cursor to change state to "NOT USE".

Ah ok so I don’t need this on at all?
I thought I was supposed to turn on that monitor online to use since it shows rs232 and the settings for it?

Can anyone list the order of operation to load in / export files via RS232 from a Fanuc 18T just to verify I’m doing that part correctly.
Any settings I need to have on or off.

Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.

Machine in Edit and cable connected ------best to connect cable before power up exernal computer/laptop
Start your connection software and set to recive a file and then on the control punch in the number O1000 or what ever file is and hit output and see what you get on your laptop ?

    Could you solve the problem?
What serial communication software are you using?
I’m using COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE FOR FANUC CNC with the same FANUC CNC.
It is specially designed for FANUC CNC though it can be used also with other CNC.
It has several built-in help menus that show you how to use it with your CNC.
You can download it from “The SOFTPEDIA· web page.
