All cnc table top mills I built before they were with RM1610 ball screws single start with 10mm lead. The guy I used to buy these screws closed shop and so I had to find a new supplier (BSTAutomation) who supplies RM1610 with double start, 5mm

I’m using Mach3, how do I calculate the steps/per in Mach3 when I come to configure the motors?

Hi,
a double start 5mm screw is the same as a single start 10mm screw. No need to change anything.

Thank you Craig for the help, happy to know there is no difference but I just remember another possible problem.

The ball screws I will buy now are for the Y and X axis. For the Z axis I plan to use a ball screw I have from a previous project and is single start, 10mm lead. Is there a problem to have different screws on Y/X and Z axis?
