    Help with compatible servomotor

    Hello everyone,

I am looking for a servomotor for a industrial printing machine. I am considering a Yaskawa SGMSV-20DDA6F AC Servo Motor 2kW 3000rpm. Can anybody help me with connecting the encoder cable correctly and check if this motor is ok?

I will get some more photos of the board and cable if required.

Here are some photos of the motor I need to replace.

    Thanks

    Hi,
the pictures did not show up.

Yaskawa servos are very good but also very expensive. The servo needs to be matched to the drive, one without the other is just a joke.

I use Delta B2 series servos, mainly 750W servos. They have a 160,000 count/rev encoder, do 3000rpm at 2.4N,m continuous and 5000rpm max. I pay $438USD each for them, that is the servo,
the drive and the cables. Not bad value. Delta is a Taiwanese brand made in China. It is good quality, good support, documentation and most importantly free set-up and tuning software at fair
prices....about a third to a half of what you'd pay for Yaskawa.

    This is 2kW (6.4Nm (cont) @ 3000rpm, 5000rpm max, 19.1Nm max) servo, drive and 3m cables for $895USD.

Craig, you are going to have to buy Delta B3 or E3 in the future. Apparently E3 is replacing B2

v102: Are you replacing the servo motor only (trying to use an existing drive) or are you replacing servo motor and drive together?

OP v102 did post 4 images, to IndustryArena, but they did not transfer properly to CNCZone. I have uploaded two here:

    Re: Help with compatible servomotor

    Hello Craig,

The Delta looks great, was reading about the quality of Yaskawa but sure the price is also a decider for me.

My main concern is that the machine is a heidelberg brand and I wouldnt get any sort of support in changing the motor with another brand from them, for their technician to install a new motor they are asking for 20k, the machine second hand costs 1k.

Changing the drive I think is imposible for me. I havent seen it on the machine, maybe its embedded in their motherboards.

I was hoping to change one for the other... but I have no clue if this is posible. I'm learning that its very complicated.

I have a option to purchase for 800€ a second hand one from another machine.. it feels like I'm throwing money away, in a couple of years I will have more issues I suspect.

Here are a couple of videos of the problem I have. Its intermitent. The motor sound bad. (the last video is the motors strange sound)

Not sure what to do here
