    How to Calculate Mach3 Steps/per

How do I calculate the steps/per for Mach3 in Inches?

I provide the info in metric since it is what I have. I don't know if I should convert this info to inches or convert the calcs result from mm to inches.
16mm Screw, Double Start, 5mm Lead, 1/8 Microsteps
    Motors are 2 phase, 1.8Deg

    Thanks

Re: How to Calculate Mach3 Steps/per

    Hi,
Double start at 5mm pitch means, in effect a 10mm lead screw.
    8 microsteps per fullstep means 1600 steps/revolution.

    10/1600 =6.25 um/step

    1 inch = 25.4mm or 25400um therefore the steps/inch is (25400 x 6.25)=158750 steps/inch.

Re: How to Calculate Mach3 Steps/per

    Hi,
    sorry I have miscalculated...I posted:
    steps/inch is (25400 x 6.25)=158750 steps/inch.
    When it should be:

    steps/inch is (25400 / 6.25)=4064 steps/inch. So divide rather than multiply.

Thanks for your time Craig, you sound like a mathematician.....lol,

Was ready to post back to say looking in my notes from my previous machine I used 4064 steps per inch and was surprised with your answer but now all looks good.

    Cheers
