Hi, I have a ez-router scorpion cnc that has 5.1 Cuken planetary gearbox. I’m wondering if there are any alternatives that may work for me? To order one from ez-router is $1000. Ordering direct from the company in china is $189 + freight but it’s very hard to get ahold of them as you can imagine. The planetary gear head has very little backlash. You could go with a belt drive with two different pulleys to get the reduction. The Chinese gear head for $189 is cheap but you need to check backlash specs. The other option is a used planetary gear head from eBay, look for HD harmonic drive
