spline groves milling with 88hs control

Need help. just received 1986 fadal with 88hs control
and need some help/info in regards to control abilities.
All our machinery is equipped with Siemens 840D and
we cut cpline groves on 1/4 plates. does anybody know if 88hs
control can perform this and how.
    Regards,
    Dan

What type of tool are you using? And what is the spline specification? What RPM and feed rates are you using on the machines with the Siemens control? 1/4 plates? what type of material (steel) are they?

    Sorry,
but rpm, tool type and mat/l are not relevant to my question but to satisfy you curiosity it is inconel, 2mm end mill, an a hole lot of RPM.

    Please,
i still need info if this control can translate points into spline path.
    Regards,
    Dan

Dan, You referring to a curved line spline (first guess) or a shaft with grooves (second guess) or a hole with internal grooves that slide over a grooved shaft (third guess)?

    spline

    Richard, thanks for your reply,
    it is curved line/spline,
here is scenario to further clarify:
    vertical boring mill,
    4' x 4' x .25" thick plate on the table,
    (2D machining,)
    small end mill (2mm),
need to cut 30 spaced groves x 1.0mm deep
on the same plate but not in the strait line.
They are all curved lines or splines and all with there respective and
    different curvatures.
Sorry for not clarifying more in the first place, i hope this give you enough
    info.
    Regards,
    Dan

    1/4 plate was enough.
I hope this info is enough.

The Fadal control does not have a splining utilty built in. You need a CAM package that can turn the points into circles and lines, and postprocess into G2, G3, G1 code for the control.

    What Paul said.
It will run whatever G code you put in it.
    Get CAM software.

On my TI-86 I have a cubic spline program. Which is non-graphical and can be used to spline data points along one axis (x). Not as sophicated as found in modern CAM software.

I have used programs like it in the past to find missing data points on a curve.

I use a CAM program at work, when necessary.
