Hi all,
mi burthday it's approaching, and the first gift coming is a "minimini" mill.
At last I've decided to start with the proxxon mill-drill (System BFW 40/E), because major budget would have been a problem.
What do I need now are the tools to start working some metal pieces.
Can you give me some advice on a few tool that are necessary to start ?
I know that it heavily depends on what work should be done, and what material should be worked, but I also think that there should be some basically tools.
In any case the idea is to get some tools that could mill steel, so ( if I'm not absolutelly wrong ) I could also mill alluminium.

FYI the mill I've choose can handle tools ( chuck inner diameter ) up to 13mm.



What are your advices for this ?

A really good Kurt style vice would be my first choice !

Ok. This is on the list ( at least something comparable ).
What about cutting tools ?

Here are some small items that you will need/want at some time: dial caliper, micrometer, edge finder, dead blow rubber hammer, counter sink bits, V-Blocks, mini chucks for very small drills, some cheap paint brushes to swipe the chips away, what you need/want never ends

I suppose I should read this as .... bigger chucks, as the basic chuck for this setup starts from 1,5 mm and end at 6 mm

My list

The most accurate vise you can afford, a Kurt vise is a thing of beauty.

A set of paralells

A Starrett " Last Word " type dial indicator or maybe a coaxial indicator

A set of Chinese made endmills 2 and 4 flute ( cheap)

A ER type collet set and an adaptor to fit your mill these have a large adjusting range and can clamp down to near zero.

A center drill

and here in the USA, a fractional drill index and a number drill index.
