Question writting my own canned cycle Mazatrol M2

Does anybody in the forum have experience in writting macros/canned cycles?

I have a Mazak V7.5 with a M2 control. Today I was doing some threads (M16 x 2mm) using a spiral tap on a floating tap holder. I set the feed to 1.8mm, so it would extend the holder. most of times the tat worked fine, but in a few instances, the floating tap holder didn't extend far enough and when the tap is on the last few thread pitches, the tap holder bottoms out and damages the start of the thread.

I know that the ideal situation would be to have the feed at 90% of the pitch , when the spindle is running forward, and to retract at the normal pitch on the reversing part of the cycle.
Doe anyone know hot to do it?

    Tapping M2

When tapping with an M2 control use M39 (High gear) in the sequence line and change the dwell from FIX to .5 or .6 and that should help. The control wants to use low gear because the sfm is low for tapping. Forcing high gear will quicken the spindle response time when reversing. Hope that is some help.
