    Question letter cutouts

I am currently working with Autocad and was wondering how to cut out letters using the cnc machine. I used, I believe its outline art but the finished cut was not to my standards. Any other program for a more precise cut?

    Andrew,

    Autocad will do it.
    Here's a sign I made:

    I was using a 60 degree cutter.
The images were imported into Acad as clipart images and I drew over them. Then deleted the image.
The text was laid out using a True Type Font. Use 'text' or 'mtext' and sized to fit.
Then using 'text explode' in the Expresstools menu, you get an outline of the text. You have to 'explode' (reg. menu) each letter again.
Next erase the interior lines in the letter at least TWICE until you don't see it anymore.
All the lines of text are now individual polylines and should be only outlines of the letters.
    From there it's to Gcode.
    Hope that helps.

    Chris
