    Bang for buck upgrades

    Hello,

I am about to order an acme leadscrew from mcmaster.
Is there anyother bang for buck upgrades you guys would suggest that I can get from them that would be worth it?

Maybe bearing end units for the screw or something like that?

    Thanks,

    Derek L

Unless you've ordered from them before, I don't believe they'll ship to Canada.

There are a LOT of posts on here from people saying that they won't ship there. People have said that they'll take your order and call you back later and say they can't ship it. Good luck.

    MCM shipping to Canada

I ordered and received my flanged bearings from MCM a couple of years ago. In fact there was a problem with the order and in the end I ended up receiving the order twice. They were really good about it. I got a couple of phone calls and the even said to keep the extra order as it would cost more to send it back. I think the order was less than $20.00

Yeah they have 3 offices in edmonton. Only trouble is they want 60 bucks for a 12' chuck on general grade 1/2 -10tpi acme rod and will only sell it in 12' lengths!

For that price id rather get stuff from mcmaster.

    crap , 60 bucks ??? they suck !
i'm surprised about the 12' lengths , theres a fastenal down the hill from me and i bought a 6' piece 3/4-6 for around 30 bucks ,ive noticed their prices change from person to person , i think it depends on if they drop a company discount or not

Hehe my story is I'm into high voltage projects 4hv.org and I was wanting a way to easily produce replicable supports for frame and such. I also wanted to be able to prototype circuit boards.

So there I was about to buy a new laptop when all of a sudden bam 1000 bucks sunk into a cnc and I havnt even sat down to build it yet.

(but hey i got a nice router and spindle still in box :P)

    Ha Alberta.

    Hey,

    It's also cold as balls.

I spent a winter doing seismic up there, and went kinda nutty. It's so common there is even a term for it: "getting bushed".

Made lots of money, drank most of it, and ran back to Toronto swearing I'd never do anything just for the money ever again.
