Try converting the file you are using to a Corel vector file (for cutting), or convert the whole image to bitmap (for engraving only). If you can get the file into Corel, it can be converted using Corel. "Save As" a .cdr file, or "Convert to Bitmap" in the file menu of Corel. Once you are working with a Corel file instead of a .plt or a .dxf, the laser software you have should be able to use it like all those other Corel files with which you have found success. Worth a try anyway. Combine this with a complete reboot (power off, turn back on) of your computer, and a complete reboot of your laser. Seriously, so many errors are a result of an unseen software bug that resets after a reboot. These techniques work for my LaserPro laser.

Unfortunately, most Chinese machines won't work with Corel .cdr files. They have to be saved as either .plt, .ai or .dxf to be imported into the laser software for vector cutting.

Can you try saving the file in a different version of Adobe Illustrator .ai? For some reason my LaserCut software will only recognize version 7 .ai files.

Also, like lamicron says, with the Chinese laser software the 5th install is usually the best.
