[MIYANO vs FANUC]

I'm new to the CNCzone forums but have lurked around in the past to answer some of my questions.

I've gotta a nasty 1995 MIYANO MSV-43 VMC w/ Fanuc OM-C controls that came out of Zollner pistons in Illinois. It was used in a cell that made pistons for the 7.3 International diesel. This machine was so gross, it was like cleaning a septic tank... something I haven't done but may as well have after cleaning this thing up. I have no prior experience with CNCs or Fanuc or much machining for that matter but I'm learning. I've replaced the linear guides, ball screws, chased down numerous wiring problems, tweaked the 900 parameter list and finally got it making chips and made an ashtray to hold the end mills that I've train wrecked.

Today I got a #329 alarm and I'm removing the encoder right now. Is there anything that I should look out for?

Did you check the diagnostic 760-767 and 770-777 before removing it?

Thanks for the reply Al_The_Man,

Nah... I just unscrewed the connector to the encoder, brake parts cleaned the green stuff off the pins and packed it with wheel bearing grease and a few swear words. Seemed to have work pretty good so far. :banana:

This mill has a stupidly built housing that has the belly way too close to the connectors on the servo motor, about 2" below the motor and the thing gets wet too easily during a bed wash. I'm thinking about wrapping the whole thing with some sort of waterproof tape like they use on underground cable splices.

My Fanuc manual doesn't list much of anything for those parameters... Where could I get a full list of the parameters for a OM-C control?

I no longer have much info on these machines, what exactly is the problem?
