    Hi,

Is there a quick and easy way to determine taper for tool holders? Thanks

    Yes
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

He is referring you to Machinery's Handbook, the standard reference for just about anything related to machining. It has an entire section about standard tapers used on tool holders. If you know the name/style, i.e. morse taper, 5C, R8, of the holder just look it up.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
