Lightbulb Post a sample of the program.

I have seen many posts where people are having problems with programs.
The machine does this and that when it shouldn't.
Why not make it a habit to post a sample of the program.
It makes it so much easier to see what's wrong and help.

I second this suggestion and add; copy and paste the actual program don't just retype a segment. Typos can occur during retyping which just confuses the issue.

It also makes sense to specify the machine the control and also put a few punctuation marks in sentences. Some of the posts are a joke we ought to start a new forum with all the worst examples posted. You know the kind " Need help how to mill a circle ? " .

Use of the code tags helps a lot, sets off the program and preserves the formatting.
Just push this button and put your text between the start and end tags which are inside the two sets of square brackets.

    Code:
    N1M1(3/8 END MILL)
    T#101M6
    M1
    G0G90G#103X0.000Y0.000
    S3565M3

Andre' B, I am pretty much a computer illiterate in many ways. What are "code tags"? Are you saying to do this?

    #
    part program
    #

And this will show the program in the thread exactly as it was written for the machine?

I also like to learn new things.

    Thanks.

Here is a little tool that will help in trouble shooting G and M code, only draw back it does not recognize macros.
Discriminator CNC Editor It is $10 and works well and is a good tool for teaching G and M code along with manual editing and trouble shooting.
You are able to step through each line of code and visually see the output.

    Code:
Put your code between the tags.

    Edit:
Regular text in a reply the "extra" blank spaces get removed.
    * I put 9 spaces before the * char.

    Code:
             * I put 9 spaces before the * char.
Inside the code tags the spaces are not removed.
Also a mono spaced font is used inside the tags so stuff lines up vertically.

Yes. Let's all scream until the site admin makes it so. As a frequent code seeker some of the existing threads are painfull to read. Next question, do people read stickies?

    Code:
pasted in from a text editor
             *nine spaces before the *
    let's try again
        *four spaces before the *
    end of paste test
