Wise words indeedwith an endmill you can hurt a finger and eventually it will heal itself, worst case you lose a finger, you still have nine.
with a laser you can tattoo your eyes for the rest of your life, worst case you lose one eye, but you only have one remaining...
best wishes

Fleury, there seems to be lots of posts about uploaded files been password protected.
What is the reasoning behind this? Are you able to remove the password protection or post the pass word in this forum? Otherwise they are not much use to people.
Thanks for looking into this.
Being outside the square !!!

Follow that project for a while. They are doing a open source laser project. It looks like they are getting close (think several more months) and should have plans available. I think they are looking at a roughly $1000 100W CO2 laser tube from China. They seem to have found a reliable supplier that will sell the tube, power supply, and more misc parts.
It's going to be interesting to see.
... Also, checkout buildlog.org for DIY laser cutters and build logs.
Steve,
this is the drawing i have so far. hope you or somebody can help me making it "come to life".
You are Doing Great with this design!
Keep Going and you will have a Great Puzzle!
I Fixed up the Broken Vectors for you, and also fixed some of the curves on your Profile Outline.
I Was tempted to keep going and continue to Build this Model, put that is Your Fun Part of this Project to do.
I will Finish it at another time. Thank You for the File.

That homebrew laser looks good so far, I'd have a few reservations from what I can see though?
The track bearings are plastic (nylon?) and some of the similar far eastern machines that use Nylon bearings have accuracy issues (The 3020 series being the most note-able). The other consideration would be arc safety, when a tube fails it will arc from the PSU wire to the nearest good conductor, the longer it takes for the arc to build jump power the further it will go, a 100 watt tube is being pushed with 35Kva @ 35Ma with it's running power being 20Kva, that's a LOT of power if something goes wrong.
Home build machines are fantastic fun but from experience you will always get a small number of people who buy the kit and don't follow instructions, which in a simple router, drill press or similar isn't too drastic, when, however, your dealing with very lethal voltages, I'd personally have some concerns about my liability if I were the provider of the kits or instructions. Sometimes people who buy pre-built machines do some silly things or take risks but when you have to add in build control as well I think I'd have a few real concerns.
(I don't know how US law works but here in the UK you cannot disclaim liability for negligence or foreseeable accident no matter what you try to add to your disclaimer)
In theory a fantastic idea and I've seen some brilliant homebuild lasers but in practice it may well be a highway to a lawsuit.
best wishes

Who has a file of Dragster and formula 1 - car
Thanks
On the lasersaur pages, the laser and power supply are about $800. The rest of the stuff pushes the price to the $4K to $5K range. Some of it is mechanical, some optical, some electronic. So depending on your skill set, I bet you could do one in the $1K to $2K range with a bit more inovation.
great pictures last puzzles i build
