    Bitmap trace

I have tried to use the bitamp trace in the trial version and I cannot get it to work. It looks like it does an ok job untill you zoom in then it is hundrands of individual vectors. What am I doing wrong. This looks to be a very powerful program but this is the feature that I would use the most, and I cannot get it to work. Mabey it is just a poor quality scan.

Can you adjust the noise filter higher that 10? mabey that would help.

I do not know how to attach a file so if you need more info please let me know.

I know you can clean up bitmaps in other programs before you export into Vectric. That may help as well. Flash can also bitmap trace, but unless it is a clean bitmap, the results are usually less than desirable.

The best auto trace program out there can only do so much to get a good trace. Bad, low resolution art or bitmaps with blurred or aliased edges cause problems. In the end you will find that you will either have to do a lot of cleanup after the trace or live with ragged cuts. The alternative is to start out with vector art that you either draw, hand trace or buy as clipart. Then your time can be spent doing design and layout rather than cleaning up the auto trace files. I know it's compelling to want to be able to just scan/download a picture or pencil drawing and hit a button and cut it out....it just is not that easy, which is why you can get money for doing it.

Go to www.vectorart.com and see what good vector clipart looks like. It has to have smooth curves, limited node count, closed vector objects, and no object overlap.
