    Bridgeport Boss servo machine retrofit

    Larken,
    I have a Bridgeport boss R2E4 servo machine that has a dead control and I am in the process of doing a retrofit. I would like to use the Viper 200 card. I was wondering about the power supply.. and Heatsinking
    the servo's on my machine are as follows:

    powertron
    permanent Magnet DC servo motor
    Rated Torque: 30" pounds
    Max Voltage: 146
    Rms Amps: 14.6
    Max pulse Amps: 58.3
    Frame C402-3
    Model 402CNSPOS72
    Serial 15347

    With a BEI encoder Mounted
    Model 25G-250-ABZC-8803-sM18-s (150336-250)
    Part Number 924-01029-092A
    Date 11-1-84

    Hey Jeep534:

    I’m in the process of doing a similar retrofit. Using the Viper 200’s and I just went to http://toroid-transformer.com./ and emailed them my motor spec’s and they were very helpful. You might want to give them a try.

    Yes, that motor is ok for the Viper 200.

    For heatsinking, mount them on the edge or flat on 1/4 alum plate and have a fan blowing on them. At the higher voltages some of the power resistors for the voltage regulator need abit more cooling.

    To get 146 volts DC, your transformer should output about 100 volts.
