Ito,
Your doing the 4 axis correct? If so make sure you get the lateast from my website.

Phill:
Right, i will try the 4rth axis on the first try, maybe i´m crazy...
But I am MAD about my LPT port. On the early days i BURNED 2 parallels on 486 PCs. Now i want to try opto or buffered stuffs.
What do you say about SN74LS541N buffer?
Ito,
The issue really is how you handle your power and gnd. Yes you could put a buffer in, but it may not help any. If your gnds are incorrectly wired, the buffer can fault and still hurt the pc's ppt. In addition it the input side and control lines are also an issue. If you want to put something in between, look at a true opto isolator such as a 6N138.

Phil:
I have some 4N25 heare. Can i use it as a 6N138 ????
Thanks dude, i´m almost there with the 3rd pcb! Yahooo, iahahaha! IIIIhaaaaa!!!!
lol
You can.
Phil
Just a note, I updated my website trying to make it a little more legible and helpfull. Looking for ideas from the user community to make it better for those who might want to "roll their own" electronics for their cnc project.

Phill:
Your site is even better
Phil, do you have eagle files for the 3977 board? Can you send/post on your site please?
Thanks.
 And what about a opensource joistick schematic?
Anyone to contribute?
I am really liking this kool hobby
Phil, there is a bad link at the 5804 Copper 600DPI artwork, it points to a nonexistant 'minimlchannel.bmp' and creates a 'not found' error.Originally Posted by pminmo

Thanks Fer,
It's now fixed.
Phil
Ito,
Have you started the interface board? (BOB) I added a optional connector, that would make it easy to add a joystick interface. Haven't uploaded it yet.
Phil
:drowning: Phill:
I´m having problems with the #2 and #3 DISCTRETEs !
I did All the tests, and if IC2=IC8 (see PDF) the test is OK, but the red LED don´t blink and i have 3 FETS on (3 Leds as a motor LIGHTING)
What sould I do?
Oh, by the way, i haven´t started the BOB, but i need one with the OPTO-ISOLATORS...
Thanks Master, I don´t know more what to do...
Phil: That last was the #3 Discrete board.
Heare we go with the #2 Discrete errors test:
At the begining (no JP1 pin3 nor pin5 wiring):
errors IC1:
pin1-off ; pin2-on; pin5-on; pin6-off
IC2 as IC8:
pin8-off; pin2-off
IC2 as IC3:
Pin8-on; pin2-on;
IC8:
pin11-off; pin3-off
:drowning: H E L P !!!!!!!
My pin5(JP1) track was cracked!
Now I have Boards #1 and #2 working!
But my #3 Discrete is still with 3Leds (as motor) ON... :drowning:

I fixed all the boards!
I gess i´m getting smart about electronics!
Sorry Phill, i don´t wanna disturb you again with my pcb problems! I will try lil more before ask for help...
Now i´m waiting for the upgrade on your website, to have the coper of the opto-BOB or the 4axis-bob-joistick.
Ito,
If your willing to wait a couple of days, here's the path I'm headed down. I'm modifying the 4 axis BOB by adding a connector (circled in pink). My thought process is this, this connector will allow the addition of a daughter board(s) for opti isolation or joystick, and maybe both. It can be built without the connector without any issues. The connector could even be added at a later date. When a person wanted to use it, there will be thin traces between adjacent pins that would be cut (first one pointed to by the red arrow). Hows that sound?
Phil
Phil:
Sounds good, but i must insist on the opto-isolator. If you inted to put both (joistick+optos) why not sumply put optos rigt to the DB25 connection?
I will wait for the most amazing BOB card, by the way i will be using my Opto-prototype-board (optos only).
Thanks dude and congratulations about the 4axis bob project!
Ito,
There is no way I can add opto isolators to the BOB and stay with a single sided PCB. I hope the daughter board will be able to stay single sided for the opto isolators. You probably going to be the first if you go that way, so you might have to bear with me some on possible mistakes.
