I need to turn oval objects on a lathe. The minor axis of the elliptical X-axis path will be about 1mm less than the major axis. The elliptical path can be defined by a standard formula representing an ellipse. I can see Mach3 might be able to do this with the formula function. Only, I don't know how...

Moving ahead, could one move the X-axis in a sinusoidal path around the job axis? Could one 'turn' gears, for instance, assuming there was enough torque in the X-axis drive to accelerate and decelerate that rapidly?

Can someone help me turn an oval job on a lathe with Mach3?
