    Thread milling with Mach3?

    Hi,

Watching some Centroid videos. The show thread milling process done in a milling machine. Can Mach do this?

Yes, but there are no canned cycles I don't think. But you can gcode it. I've seen thread milled wood boxes done on a Romaxx router.

Bsically a g-code that does all the work for you, like G83 for peck drilling.

    Try here:
    http://www.micro100.com/downloads/ThreadMillAssist.html

This will give you a code snippet you can paste into your G-code

    thread mill G- code

Contact your local Iscar representative and ask him for a thread mill CD. It will post G-code programs for about any thread and it is free.

Yes it can, I've cut a thread in plastic. The gcode was generated In mach3 - NewFangledSolutions thread milling wizard, My cutting speed was too slow (user error) but otherwise easy peasy. NB I spent 90% of my set up time triple checking Dimentions, fixture and work peice location, ect as this was my first cut - ever.
I dont know what I have made, but the swaf is shiny.
