    Z axes Rails

    Hi All
I have been told that the Z axes rails on my old MB1R Hurco have lost their tension, after looking at things --- it looks like they may be adjustable. Can anyone out there tell me the procedure to make the adjustments and the specifications for doing so? Or suggest a book or manual that explaines things?
    Thanks, Sam

    Question Up Date

    Hi again

After further analysis, with power off the Z axis will almost move down by itself, and is rather difficult to move up .... I am assuming that the old machine is getting kinda loose! Is there something I should do to tighten it up, or do I add some counter weight, or ?

If counter weight is the answer, is there a point in the Z travel where there should be balance between the two? or is there an amount that the counter weight should be lighter or heavier than the head?

    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks, Sam
