    Oil or Grease

I recently purchased a 1978 LuxCut lathe. I've replaced all of the brass bushings in the gearbox with oil impregnated bronze bushings. While I'm at it I thought maybe I should install oil cups or grease fittings to help lubricate the new bushings. Grizzly has their lathe equipped like I am talking about:

The only problem with oil is having it drip everywhere. I'm not really sure which way is better, any suggestions?

    Hi:
Extruded grease tends to collect chips, undesirable for a gearbox. Since you have replaced all of the gearbox bushings wih sintered bushings, I'd go with a few drops of oil every now and then, through oil cups. My '76 Southbend 10K is setup like this, and works very well, yes, a few drips of oil every now and then.

    regards
