How to change imported part orientation

    Hi

I have Soldworks and have tried to save iges file in various views.
Top, Front, etc. Everytime it seems the part comes into Gibbs
in the wrong orientation. How do you rotate a newly imported part.
To me it looks like the default view Gibbs wants is a top view.

When you import it into Gibbs it uses the same coordinate system you are using in SolidWorks, or any cad/modeler system for that matter. Views and coordinate systems are not the same.

Create a new coordinate system in your sldprt and when you export it as an IGES you have an option on which CS you want to output. The part will be imported into Gibbs using this CS.

That said, Gibbs will open or import native SolidWorks part files so you don't need to save as an IGES.

Also, there are a number of ways to rotate the part in Gibbs. A very easy way is to create a new CS and just do a 2D rotate.
