IMO it isn't worth your time to screw around with ready mount gear rack. Just spot weld it to your frame. It doesn't wear that quickly, and when it does just tear it off and 2 minutes with a grinder and you are good to go!
On all equipment there are 2 levers...
    Lever "A", and Lever F'in "B"

Lol, I guess you need some special rod that can weld steel to aluminum then...

Arrow Ontario Source for Rack & Pinion

Try CBS Equipment for rack & pinions.
Six locations in Ontario, helpful to deal with, & have a web site you can Google.

PS...(For that steel to aluminum welded connection, you need to fill a hollow elderberry twig with iron filings & wrap with aluminum foil. ------This will only work on machines that have AC straight polarity settings.)

old post i know, but was searching and found it. You could make small clamps that hold it down with bolts, without actually having holes in the rack.
