We had a problem develop with our blum Fanuc/blum comb. We have a Fanuc 16m run Okada graphite mill with a blum laser. We have used this for years with very few problem untill now. Here is the process of this machine.

1. the machine first moves to a soft brush and runs through it to clean the tool.
2. the machine moves to the laser and runs the length check process.
3. the machine goes back to the brush once again
4. the tool is then verified by the laser once more.

This has been the normal process since the machine was setup. The problem that we see now is that once in a while the machine will goto #3 and crash the spindle down into the brush. (z axis) up/down.. Now when we catch it it says that z has 6 inches give or take to move. BUT the offset from #2 seems to be a good number. As a mater of fact we can turn the power off to the machine and restart reseting nothing btw and everythng is fine.

Any thoughts on this. Could this Fanuc have a corruption problem or something?
