Source for angular contact bearings for ball screws

    Hi,

Where is a good source for the angular contact bearings rated for ball screws? There is VXB bearings on ebay but I dont think they have suitable ones for ballscrews. I hope there is a source out there with overstocked or economical bearings.

My ID is 8mm or .315inches. OD is not so important as I havent made the bearing mounts yet. My desired overall tolerance is 1mil on the machine. I have *used* T3 ball screws with .0004 max axial play.

    Thanks,
    Colin

You could check ebay for good deals.

http://www.bearingsdirect.com/ should have what u're looking for.

    you could also check mcmaster.com

http://www.applied.com/ will have what u're looking for.

You probably want a set of bearings with the preload built in (no spacers required). For A/C ballscrew bearings, the higher the contact angle the better. 25o and 30o are what you want...but 15o may suffice.

Thanks guys, but those bearings are over 150$ for single row. I cant spend over 600$ just for bearings. I guess I am left with whatever I can find on ebay. Can't find anything in 8mm yet.

FAG/Barden has 25 deg. angular contact spindle bearings in 8 mm bore size. They are probably expensive as well and not really for ballscrew support.

If you have a lathe, you could make an adapter to increase the ballscrew shaft diameter (to some bearings on ebay). Accuracy would be important here...you would want the adapter to be as accurate as possible.
