i have a problem and need some help.
i have a part to machine and i need to be able to draw the tool back 13.75 inches to clear boss i am machining around.
if i use g81 and set r to 13.75 it wants to feed from 13.75 to face of part to z depth how can i get around this so i can rapid to z.1 feed -2.0 rapid back to z13.75 and make my x&y move and then rapid to z.1 and drill to z-2.0 ect for 12 hole in a bc pattern so my spindel wont hit the side of the part. my machine is a toshiba horz, boring machine

    G98

Rapid move to Z13.75, this is now your 'initial height'. Put G98 before your G81. This will make your tool return to the initial height before moving to the next hole. Thenit will move to next hole position and rapid down to the R plane. Your code should be.......

    G0 Z13.75
    G98 G81 X? Y? Z-2. R0.1 F?
    X? Y?
    next hole positions....
    G80
