    Milling Foam

Does anyone have experience milling foam inserts like the ons found inside pelican cases? I like to cut a few of the inserts (nicely) to fit my camera equipment. Was looking into a foam wire cutter but saw that milling is possible so thought if I can mill foam, it would be even better since I wil have depth control as well instead of cutting all the way though like you have to do wih a wire cutter.

Any suggestions on type of endmill needed as well as feed/speed?

    Thanks!

    Milling foam

    Hi,

We have milled camera case foam with a 1/2 in carbide cutter at full speed with reasonable results. We have a vacuum cleaner on it. We've held the foam in a just press fit plywood jig.
Have been advised that a carbide burr is what is used commercially.

Intersting!! Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to try it. Been wanting to cut some Pelican foam inserts to custom fit some of my guns. Thanks again!
