Question Need reliable UK supplier for microtools

    Hi everyone,

I'm working with a small 3 axis Roland and I was wondering if anyone knew of a decent supplier of tools suitable for machining soft plastics such as perspex with diameters ranging from 100 microns up to a millimetre. I need a high quality finish so price isn't a huge consideration, but any hints, tips or suppliers would be a big help!

    Cheers, Dom =)

You could do worse than Contour Fine Tooling, based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. I've been using them for over ten years and the finish I get on plastics is second to none (optical quality). You cannot use diamonds to machine ferous metals though cos the diamond graphitises, but anything else machines beautifuly. Speak to them and they'll give you a solution.

    Web site is www.contour-diamonds.com

Another company, in the UK, is Apex

    Hope this helps!
I love deadlines- I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Perfect, thanks for the advice! I'd seen the Herts based ones on the net and they do look impressive - always figure it's best to check with te people who actually use them though! =)
