just wondering is there a price effecient Fanuc controller for an X3 CNC setup? im sure if there is one its the more expensive stuff...the only reason i ask is because Fanuc is all we use at work and its what im farmiliar with...

AFAIK the 0 is still the cheapest, I have not used the 0i series, however.
Mitsubishi is very close in operation and it would not take you much to cross over to a similar make as this.
But generally Fanuc is not cheap to the Retro-Fitter.

There is a inexpensive Controller Software "ZeusCNC" that is based on Fanuc.
The interface is a bit different but easy to pick up if you have Fanuc experience.
If you are talking about the complete Hardware and Software from Fanuc yes I think that would be expensive and most of all probably not compatible with your "Step and Direction" Drivers.
Other than that I would love to have one of those Controllers too.
