Your problem is exact why I bought a cnc from an Australian company.

i can ring them up and over the phone, they tell me what to change in syntec controller, etc.

Also how do you get an upgrade/ update of the syntec controller?

Are you sure you have the latest update installed at your machine?

Syntec has a long way to go; if you compare it with the european controller software like biesse-works, etc...

how much money did you really safe?
how much does it cost you in time to research/ setup all those things?

Hey priest, I followed the steps again exactly and still no joy.

How about working in reverse. If I have a tool length loaded into the offset. What could I possibly expect to see on my display that will relfect that loaded length.

    Any pics that might help

So all worked out now. Cnc mate Im guessing you dont have a syntec controler, so its disappointing that you interjected on how to set up Z axis and tool offsets, I know hopw to set z's on most machines but this syntec controller is different again.

Priest, for info you can use any part of the table to calibrate, it doesnt have to be a work job offset. it can be anywhere you like, the table, a block of wood a piece of paper etc. But I do appreciate you trying to help

    Syntec Enable OnChip USB Function

May be already discutted here but I can´t find it after few longs searches

I have a Syntec 10A All controller and it has USB port on the back.

When I plug USB dongle it doesn´t work or led light.

So I suppose USB function is bios disabled.

Manual says press "DELETE" key to enter bios, but I did during post and it doesn´t work.

Could someone help with procedure to enter Syntec bios?

    Thank you.

You cant, been down that path, its actually the syntec controller interface is hard wired to turn the aux on and off, any that are not working manually via the syntec interface are not physically connected

    Z Axis Software Limit

Let me start by saying hi to everyone. I've been reading the forum for quite a while (a lot more lately)...but never got around to any posting. Didn't need to....until now.

    A little background...

If any of you remember Spencer and his SHM1325.... about a year and a half ago he sold it to our company in Kelowna, BC.

For the most part we've been pretty happy with the machine. Had a few hiccups here and there...like everyone else.

Which brings me too my problem...

We had a gantry out of square problem initially. While fixing that and having a few hard crashes into the stops caused the y1 and y2 limit switches to start causing intermittent failures.

<<<---For anyone who may have or had the same problem--->>>

We found that inside the housing, the mechanical switch can bend where it secured inside. This caused the whole switch to be pulled off center enough for the dog to not push the switch down all the way....

We would check voltage at the switch manually...but push the wheel button enough to trigger the switch...scratch our heads and put it back together again...IT WORKS!...AHHHH then it doesn't.... absolutely driving everyone mad.

    The Fix...

Remove the plastic housing cover (on ours anyway)
Remove the 2 screws holding the inside switch mechanism
Bend the tabs back straight and reassemble
Double checking the switch continuity now would be a good idea
Reinstall onto machine and reset dogs if needed

    Finally... stop crashing the machine

    Back to my new problem...

All the adjusting and playing around threw out the auto tool changer settings
Now getting "Z-Axis positive software limit exceded" error any time i try to change tools.

Have checked and reset all the tool holder positions in line 200 of the PLC
Checked the safe y zone coord... 3078. Tool Holder is at 3203
X coords seem alright as well

Changed the z positive limits up,down,0...everything I can think of, but can't get rid of that error

Anybody able to help? I'm at a loss.

    Here's the added Info:

Thought I would give the parameters I have set up....

    2401 - x axis positive software limit 1500000
    2402 - x axis negative software limit -30000
    2403 - y axis positive software limit 3500000
    2404 - y axis negative software limit -24000
    2405 - z axis positive software limit 20000
    2406 - z axis negative software limit -208500

    2407 - 2410 have 999999999, -999999999

    2411 - 6th axis (y2) positive software limit 3500000
    2412 - 6th axis (y2) negative software limit -24000

Everything else in the 2400 parameters, down to axis 16 is set to 0

    2801 - x axis 2nd reference(BLU) 266364 (BLU means what?)
    2802 - y axis 2nd reference(BLU) 3078000
    2803 - z axis 2nd reference(BLU) 20000

    2804 - 2842 all set to 0 (3rd reference)

    Only other 2800 code is:

    2843 - z axis 4th reference(BLU) -15000

Error Message given when MDI - M6T1 is executed:

Motion 17 ZAxis Positive software limit exceed
Coordinate 40 The 1NcProgramL1 Block end point exceed software limit

A little more info and questions...

Parameter 3841 - z+ contact plane coordinate of tool measurement - set to 0 - what is that?
    Parameter 2823 - z axis 3rd reference point - set to 0
Parameter 2445 - z axis positive software limit of stroke #2(BLU) - set to 0 - what is this as well
Parameter 2446 - z axis negative software limit of stroke #2(BLU) - set to 0

    Hope that helps more....

    Thanks,

    Pat

    Z Axis Software Limit Exceeded

    <=== UPDATE ===>

Ok....after a 3 1/2 hour skype call to China last night our problem has been fixed....

I did everything correct to fix the problem except one thing that was not ever said.

Before using G991T1X####y####z####.... coding in MDI to reset my tool holder coordinates into the PLC register, all coordinates must be set to 0.

My mistake, I think, was not setting my g54 coordinates to 0 before writing to the PLC. Oh, as well, all the tool offsets have to be 0 as well.

Once everything is set to zero, restart the machine.

Carefully position the tool into the first gripper using the MPG wheel.

    Write down these coordinates

Do the same for all gripper positions, writing down each coordinate

Move the gantry about 1 inch outside the gripper, so z axis can go up or down without the gripper or the machine bed getting in the way.

Write down this value. This value goes in parameter 2802

    Open MDI Block

Enter G991T1X####y####z#### substitute # with your coordinates for gripper 1

    Run the code

Enter G991T2X####y####z#### substitute # with your coordinates for gripper 2

    Run the code

Do this for all grippers. Each tool position must be entered by its self

Check the registry for the new coordinates. If the same as you wrote down, you are good to go.

    Restart the machine and zero

    open MDI

input M6T# ...should change tools now

I must say having a problem like this is a very good way to learn the ins and outs of how the machine works and runs.

    Hello to everyone!
I get an Chinese CNC machine wit SyntecEZ3 controller. Because I don't receive from manufacturer any documentation or manual, I used any Google information to put it at work. I think about 80 percent is fully functional but right now I have a problem regarding accessing PLC register.
As you can see in my photo bellow, I don't know how could I "get focus" of this screen to browse and set T1 ... T6 tools because right now they have a little bit modification on Y axis.
For example: T6 tool coordinate is Xxxx,Y530,Zxxx and I want to program and course store into the PLC registers coordinate like Xxxx,Y447,Zxxx.
    I appreciate any help !

I had a problem like that when I wanted to start the first job of the day. To release the tool holder I had to tap it all around with a piece of wood. That did it.

Had it not worked, I would have run the spindle for 10-15 minutes to heat it up and hopefully expand the receptacle of the tool holder enough for an easy release of the holder itself.

    Cabinet parts pro

    Hi everyone,

Our forum has been silent lately- sign that everyone have been enjoying their machines without problems.

I bought cabinets parts pro about 5 to 6 months ago and I've not been able to use it since then. I communicated with the company about 4 times and each time, they always promised to get back to me, now I'm tired and also believe they can't solve my problem.

Does anyone have cabinet parts pro's post processor for Syntec controller with tool changer. Will be very glad if anyone can help as the software is useless without the post processor, and it looks like the sellers of the software is clueless and helpless about the post processor .

    Thanks.
