    Unhappy E32 encoder replace

Hello all,1st thanks to Jung for the help on my Star problem.Today I have replaced an encoder on a citizen E32 for X1 axis.I've been told to do a gridshift for the new encoder. Is that necessary, can't it pick up from the zero return switch? If so I have a procedure but I'm not sure how to do it.TIA

Replacing the encoder changes the position of the encoder marker pulse, which the reference is taken from, the switch only tells the control to look for the marker.
If you don't care about the new zero position being different, there is often no need to change the grid shift, which on most controls is a parameter value in encoder step counts.

If you do any drilling or use the Tool Presetter, you'll be much happier having done the Grid Shift.
    It's pretty straightforward.
    Good Luck!
