    ... hmm

    Trying to figure out sl-10... Only have x and y axis... set my part offsets, enter MDI mode and program X0 Y0 and it sets an alarm off saying "V axis disabled"... I have no v axis. WTF?

    Yes you do....
    The V axis is the barfeed.
    Look to see if you have it turned on in the parameters and the cable not plugged in....

    normaly on lathes you have x and z axis , maybe this is the reason ?

    As pit202 says, you have no Y axis.
