    Have facemill but no inserts....

    Hi,
I have two facemills accepting SDHT1204 inserts but I can't seem to find any. I'm new to indexable tooling and got the facemills on EBAY thinking the inserts would be easy to find - not so it seems.

Looking at this chart tells me what I'm supposed to look for but I just can't seem to find the correct one....

I called Sandvik (major Swedish tooling manufacturer) but they couldn't help me either...

Does anybody know where I could get these inserts or an equivalent one?

    TIA
    /Henrik.

Plenty of results if you Google "SDHT 1204 Insert"

Here's a guy selling them on E-Bay (about half way down the page on the right):

Incidentaly, you could probably get away with an SDET 1204- the only difference is the radius on the corner of the square- they're cheaper I think.

    Hope this helps!
I love deadlines- I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

    Thanks,
Believe me, I have Googled ;-)

I've looked at the SDET1204 inserts at SFC-tooling but I'm not sure they are going to fit. The SDHT's that shows on the photo of the cutter have 45° wiper and not a "pointy" radius. And the only SDHT's I could find at SFC tooling is 0903 so they are too small.

However, the cutter specifies SDHT inserts and that in itself doesn't mean that the insert has 45° wiper angle as far as I understand. So the SDET might fit after all.....

As you can see I'm all new to this stuff....

I'll send an email to Matrix tooling, we'll see what that brings. I was hoping to find some surplus ones but as long as they are available somewhere I'm not totaly burned.

    Thanks!
    /Henrik.
