    Problem with pigtail lead on custom thread

    The thread is a M5 x.8 . custom thread ...The thread lead starts at .080 diameter and then transitions to .150 minor diameter of the thread. The problem is the .08 transition to .150. I can send iges, we use Mastercam Any cnc lathe guys out there.

    Does your machine have the ability to do G32 threading?

    This threading cycle allows the taper, and lead, to vary anywhere along the thread.

    heres a pdf of the thread. notice the start. disregard the cuts in the thread.
    I am interested in the start of the thread. I do have a file wihout the cuts.

    I think that is simple if you have G32; I have never had any need to use it but I have seen pictures of threads that had a point similar to that and then a straight portion.

    Yup, use G32, pullout & return in a subprogram, modifiy the start position.
