    Hello
    I have Fanuc 0-MD controller.
    I have a problem with tool change in the MDI mode.
    When I write M6 T.., it chooses the correct tool, but doesn’t change to it.
    But it works in the automatic mode.
    I was told, it’s because of macros. A or B. It has to be possible to switch via parameter. But which one?

    Thanks in advance
    Regards, Stefan

    Hello

    That’s right. It doesn’t matter whether macro A or B fiddles around.

    Try in MDI:

    T…;
    M6;

    Maybe it’ll work.

    Regards

    P.S. Switching via parameter is an option that has to be bought at Fanuc.

    Hmmm thanks
    It neither works. So it’s not because of syntax.
    I believe it’s because the controller can execute only one command in MDI mode.
    I can’t always write
    M86
    G91
    G28 Z0
    M85
    .............
    .......
    .......
    ............
    .......

    how much will it cost if I call Fanuc because of parameter?

    Regards
    Stefan

    Hello,

    Do you press the START/OUTPUT key after input in MDI mode?

    In my case it works as follows:

    MDI- Modus

    T1 M6;

    press OUTPUT / START

    I certainly do. It also works at our other machines.
    The plate of the changer turns in the right direction. That’s all what it can do in the MDI mode.
    But why?

    Have you looked up under “Alarm or message”? Is anything shown there?

    Hi
    No, it doesn’t give alarm. I was said it’s usual at old controllers. They all can’t do tool changing in MDI mode.
    It’s an option.
    I visited another firm, they also have such an old 0-MD controller and have the same problem.

    Does anyone have an idea?

    Hello

    We have 0-MC and it can do that. So I believe yours has to be able to do it too.

    If the machine does that in the automatic mode, there’s no problem with safety switches or engages.

    I think you change a parameter, but I don’t know which one. Maybe there’s a professional here in the forum who can help you.

    Yes, I agree.
    But who knows which parameter?
    Who has notion of parameters?
    Unfortunately I don’t have a manual for the controller.

    I guess the M06 command in your machine calls a sub program (O8000-O9999) and that you can't do if you don't have what Fanuc calls MDI operation B that's is a Fanuc option. contact your local Fanuc office and ask if you have that option the number for that the option is J926.

    I think this is your problem
