    Question G41/G42 during G71 in Fanuc 18-T

    Howdie!

I'm running Daewoo Puma 350 CNC-lathe with Fanuc 18-T controller. I would like to know if tool nose radius compensation (TNRC) is performed during G71 (Stock removal in turning) if I use G41/G42 in blocks describing the area removed.

I was actually told by a fellow worker, that Fanuc 18-T controller would perform TNRC during G71 but that there is some kind of "bug" in the Fanuc controller. He said that the bug is active in the "sloping" parts of program. He meant when the tool moves from right to left and at the same time programmed diameter decreases. This bug causes the TNRC to be two times so big that the operator wants and that the TNRC is performed on the wrong side of programmed path!!!

I have previously used older lathe with Fanuc 6-T controller, and with that machine I was told that TNRC is never used during G71. G41/G42 were put in blocks describing the removed area just for the finishing cycle (G70). I mean that Fanuc 6-T controller just omitted G41/G42 codes during G71.

Anybody having solid knowledge on TNRC in Fanuc controllers?

    I highly appreciate your help.

Machine does omit G41/G42 during rough cycle.
The best way to learn is trial error.
