Machines often borrow words from the gun. Not surprizingly, as weapons production always have been strongly connected with the machine industry.
Carousel - something that turns around its own axis.
Turret - a vertical projecting part.
Magazine - a container.
There don't seem to be any hard fixed rules in machinery, and I suspect the terms may be applied somewhat haphazardly or even interchangeably.
