Just built a 6' x 4' router and need a way (reliable and accurate) to tune it into planes.

Been working on an idea using thrust & radial bearings to make a kind of spindle tune rod in the middle of the machine with arms coming off of it to dial in the rods. The X axis could be set on its side and have this spindle installed on it supported by 4 arms.

There would be a rotary arm at the end of the arm too so that any point of the rod can be checked.

Does this sound far out, unnecessary or impossible?
