I scaned the original frames and used Enroute to clean up the image. Than I used Autocad the get all the holes and lines perfect after that, I used Deskam to make the G code. Lastly I used Yeager to run the file on my home made CNC router table. The whole process took 8 hrs.

Excellent work! Wow! Beautiful chopper also. Man I hope the weather gets better soon so I can get my heli out!

Can you tell me what type of cnc router you used/made?

    hey Paul,
currently the only nitro I have is the Hirobo GPH 346 which I ccpm-ed. I also have the electric ECO 8 and Hornet. In a box I have the hirobo MH-10 and a LMH 110. I have also owned/flown a nexus, shuttle, and X-cell 60 custom. Now that was one heck of a chopper but just to expensive for me to keep up then.
Here is a link to my page on choppers: http://www.cuttingedgecnc.com/rcmain.htm

I added a link from my website to here also, hope it brings more traffic. Again, excellent work on the frames and this group.

I'm into Planes and boats but have always wanted to try a chopper. How hard is it to learning to hover? How about landing?
    Thanks

    Hey Jeff,
Since your into airplanes and boats your already steps ahead. You know about rc system step up, engine tuning, and flying. One major difference in the rc helis is you DON'T cut the throttle if you get into trouble like with airplanes. Man I did that many times when I started and it was a doozy

It is harder then airplanes and the questions are difficult to answer because it depends on so much. With the new RC sims out there learning to fly is much cheaper and "easier." Check out FMS (free) and other ones like, park flier, realflight G2 (excellent), etc. here are some links:

I've been flying heli for 10 yrs and planes for 18 yrs, I love flying helis. A sim will teach you much about flying them and will get you flying in a short time. Here is a pic of my gas powered heli.
Check out http://rcuniverse.com for alot of info on R/C.

    Very nice chopper Paul.
I tried doing about 10 years back.It was very hard.
We used 1/4" wood doweling taped criss crossed across the
chopper rails with small wiffle balls on the ends of the dowels.
This acted as "training wheels" for helping in landing, without
    crashing everytime!

when you say you "scanned the parts" ,how do you do this, and what type of software do you use?

    great forum too

I scaned it using a flat bed scanner, than I used Enroute to convert the image and clean it up. Than I used Autocad to refine the drawing. Their are raster to vector programs, but unless you have the real exspensive ones they don't work very well.

Doesn't mastercam have a raster to vector add on
    program?
And, is this not considered a good program for this?

    Paul,
Do you built heli's from scratch or do you make replacement components for damage heli's?
Or is the components you make to improve on existing designs?
