    Thanks,

I am impressed. The console is an elegant solution to the problem of mobility, and the machine itself looks utterly competent.

You say you used a split pinion but on the picture of your Y axis it does not look like it? Did you just use them on the X? I am looking for a small split pinion to use on mine but most of the ones I have found were 65 mm or bigger. Where did you get yours?

It is seen from the photo that you are not using smoothstepper. Why?

We were limited to 15' with a usb cable and I was inducing too much noise and I have had some trouble in the past sending machines to country's with poor voltage. This always has been a service nightmare for us. With this in mind, I switched to the Industry Controls MCB-1. It uses a USB card beside the PC on a 6" cable then converts the signal through 2 RS422 cables to the motion control card. The motion control card has discrete inputs and outputs in addition to having a 50 pin header for an opto 22. I have hung a 16 channel opto on and I am moving the I/O to it so I can clean up the electrical cabinet. But I think it has 8 or 10 I/O's each plus limits without the opto.

We have tested the cables up to 200 feet with no loss of signal. That takes the 15 foot problem out of the picture It is a little expensive ($1,000) for the 2 boards but that will be made back the first service call we DON'T have to go on

    Regards,

    Kirk

Sorry for the delay getting the pre release manuals up but here they are. The board now closes the position loop and will slow the other axis down allowing catch up to the point you preset a maximum for a fault or an estop Since this opened new doors, I changed out the motors for bigger ones :wee: and WOW what a difference. We are rapiding at just over 3,000 Inches per minute and I need to change to stronger belts

probably go to steel backed.

I'll post a new video soon.

Can you please tell me how your z-axis counterbalance works, and why are you using z-axis servo brake?

I am using and air cylinder with a bleed off valve. When the head goes up, it fills with air assisting the z axis motor. When it goes down, it bleeds air off making it easy for the motor but not letting it drop. The Z axis brake is for when the power and air is off. It holds the head in place.
