Saving and exporting as a .dxf file
We save a .psm (Sheet metal) to .dxf. It gives us a 2d view of the part where we then use our waterjet to cut the profile. Once you have the .psm file open, go to "File" - "Save as flat". You then pick the part, then a line (which is used for orientation). You usually HAVE to have a line or it will not accept it. Hope this helps.

Are you talking about parts or drawings? Solid parts cannot be exported as dxf files. They can only export as solid model files such as step, iges, acis, parasolid, etc. formats.
Like GCMAN wrote, flats of sheet metal parts can be exported as dxf files, as can drawings. They are done in File>Save As in the case of drawings, and File>Save As Flat in the case of sheet metal parts.
Basically, it can only export 2D dxf files, not the 3D ones like Autocad supports.
