[CNC Viking]

Hi,

I have a 1996 Feeler FV-800 VMC with Mitsubishi Meldas 520 AMR control.
It has a RS 232 port and I intend to connect it to any of my PC's via a Ethernet switch and the Ethernet-RS232 adapter that I already have in the CNC's cabinet. Which is the best way to go, Software handshake or Hardware handshake. Would appreciate cable pinouts and parameter settings. I intend to use a CAM program, maybe VM 6 Pro, and I assume that it has a DNC program bundled. By the way, which one is it ?

Have you got it working yet? I've wired mine for hardware flow control. But, I know the Meldas uses XON XOFF which is software flow control. So, I'm using both, but you should be able to wire your connector so the machine and computer (or ethernet adapter) both ignore hardware (clear to send is always high, etc) Let me know if you need some diagrams on how to wire, I have them somewhere.
