    Scale drawing to correct size.

    Hi to all:

I clicked on "Part" and drew a logo. However the logo is over 2000 inches wide. I want to keep this logo at a much smaller size.
    • How do I keep this logo and scale it down to 3 inches wide?
    • SolidWorks 2005 was used.
    Thank you.

Scale the part.. or draw it at it's proper scale. If it's not at the proper scale, then your using an under-defined sketch to make the part.. which is also a no-no..

    Hi JerryFlyGuy:
Does this mean I will have to trash my part drawing and start over?

Well no.. if it's a drawing you should be able to use it.. the drawing is easy to create so whether it gets trashed or not... shouldn't matter to much.

There will be more work in dealing w/ the model however. The model may be able to be scaled to bring the overall model down to the proper size. It all depends on the logo and how complex it is.

When you drew the sketch to make the logo in the part/model.. did you use dimensions to set the size?

I tried to dimmension in the begining but this caused a major reduction in creativity in the drawing. Thus, I just drew the character thinking I could scale it to any size.

have you tried scaling the model once the sketch was made into a body?

If the logo is all in one feature or solidbody it can be scaled.
If it is drawn in 1 sketch the sketch can be scaled.
You can also save it as a "dumb solid" and import it into a new SW part and scale the import.

I fail to see how you could not get enough detail unless you drew it large? I can zoom a .001 x .001 box to fit my whole screen and put .0001 sized details in it?
